Dear Friends, Supporters, and Rugby Fans,
Good afternoon, and welcome to Harrogate Rugby Club for this Regional 1 North East home game against Kendal RUFC.
As the year is drawing to a close and with it the first half of the season, we welcome Kendal to Rudding Lane. But with the top of the table still tight and the newly introduced play-off spots, you will forgive me for paying equal attention to the critical Heath v Ilkley game over in Halifax.
On preparing today’s programme, I was struck by something we haven’t had for some time at Harrogate: a settled first team, with the bonus of squad rotation provided by the resilient Georgians delivering great rugby and solid results in the Merit table, where they also sit third (despite conceding a game earlier in the season).
This is the winning recipe for both the league and for us as a club. With a healthy mix of competition for places, young players pushing to secure their spots, and our social players knitting it all together. We are building week on week, and I am confident home and away supporters will see evidence on the pitch today. Lastly, I am incredibly proud to welcome Apollo Capital today as our match sponsor. Our long-term partnership with the guys is strengthening year on year, and I hope they have a great day today, in the bar and pitch side!
