Welcome to Harrogate Rugby Club...

Dear Friends, Supporters, and Rugby Fans,

Good afternoon, and welcome to Harrogate Rugby Club for this Regional 1 North East home game against Ilkely RFC.

This is a game we worked last season to avoid, but I am sure we will deliver one of the best days at Rudding both on and off the pitch. Ilkley have a lot to prove after stunning us last time we played at home, and a season so far which sees them in contention for promotion. But thoughts of what might happen in April will be far from both teams’ minds as their local rivalry will be fuel enough.

It is also a pleasure to welcome the Wood Spoon Charity today as their Yorkshire squad takes on a “Veterans” team of which some could still pull on a shirt at 2pm.

With a sold-out clubhouse for lunch, a Vets team, our Georgians taking on Weatherby in a West Championship fixture and a local derby today, it is set to be a special one at the Apollo Capital Stadium. A clean sweep will crown the day!

Have a great day and come on the Gate

Yours in Rugby,

Mark Garrett

Welcome to Wooden Spoon

Today, we are proud to welcome Wood Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby.

This fantastic charity works to Transform Children and Young Peoples Lives Through the power of the Rugby Community.

From its origins in 1983 when five England supporters seeking solace in a Dublin bar were presented with a wooden spoon, wrapped in an Irish scarf, on a silver platter after watching their side condemned to the bottom of the tournament table with a 25-15 defeat to Ireland at Landsdowne Road in the Five Nations.

The Wooden Spoon volunteers have raised over £31 million, funding more than 1,465 projects across the UK.

Today, their Yorkshire team will take on a group of Harrogate Legends. To support this fantastic charity, hit the button on the right!

A proud sponsor for over 50 years
