Dear Friends, Supporters, and Rugby Fans,
It is no secret that we have had a much greater opposition to face this season as every week we have battled the weather. This week is no different, as I write this the location of the game hangs on the balance. Hopefully, you will be reading this at Rudding Lane but regardless of where we game is played, it will be because of the huge efforts made during the week from everyone at the club. The level of planning, coordination and communication necessary to provide options and keep the game alive is massive. Thanks therefore go to Dragos, Aled, Zaynu and Tim for all their work this week.
While I have never known a winter like this in terms of wet weather it does highlight that our pitches remain immature and will remain at the will of the rain and cold unless significant investment is made.
We will be sharing a detailed action plan on both immediate and long-term investment across all pitches shortly so please watch out for that on the website. There are no quick fixes and we do need to keep in mind this has been a record wet winter and our pitches, which are located on the worst possible ground for natural drainage, are still less than 10 years old. But the commitment is there to invest as there is across all areas of the club.
Yours in Rugby,
Mark Garrett
