Dear Friends, Supporters, and Rugby Fans,
Good afternoon, and welcome to Harrogate Rugby Club for this national league home game against Hull Ionians RFC.
This is going all the way!
The cheers and smiles when we last played at home were nowhere to be seen last week when a muddy Door Moor brought us all down to earth with a bump. In conditions you would have thought those of us involved in last season’s campaign should have been familer we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. A stark reminder that this league is far from over and is likely to be undecided until the last day. That said the response from all concerned after the game showed how much this means to everyone and bodes well for reaction today as we host our friends from Hull Ionians.
Outside of the action on the pitch today we can’t ignore or fail to celebrate the other successes across the club. A (more than) full clubhouse for lunch today shows the hard work and commitment by the team to maximise these key revenue opportunities. Nor can we ignore the condition of the pitches, especially pitch 1. There is no doubt the weather has been far kinder to us this winter. However, our trip to Sheffield last week highlighted the challenges all clubs face in managing and maintaining their facilities. An area in which I am proud to say we are making tremendous progress.

Welcome Hull Ionians RUFC - A brief history..
History of Hull Ionians RUFC
Hull Ionians was formed in 1989 by the merger of Hull and East Riding with Ionians.[3]
The club has played in the upper echelons of regional rugby throughout its history but in 2012–13 the club won National Division 2 North and were promoted to National League 1 for season 2013–14.[4] They were immediately relegated back to National League 2 North but were promoted the following season, playing at the third level of English club rugby for the second time.
